Born and raised in The Motor City, commercial photographer and art director Jeremy Deputat epitomizes what Detroit is all about: self-made with style and a bit of grit. Art, culture, and music have influenced Jeremy since he was young and both a passion to create and fascination with capturing life on film lead him to abandon his day job as an art director and pursue a career in photography.
He shot his first cover with a point and shoot camera and despite having no formal photography training, he has secured an impressive client list executing campaigns for major brands around the world. Whether he’s shooting a print campaign in Hong Kong for Adidas Originals, traveling to Africa with Eminem, or shooting the visuals for Dr. Dre’s most recent Compton album, there isn’t much you can throw at him that he can’t turn into a dynamic and successful shoot.
While he continues to gain inspiration from his flagship studio in Detroit, he’s traveling back and fourth to Los Angeles absorbing the bi-coastal culture while constantly learning, challenging himself and exploring what’s next.
Deputat has exhibited work in Detroit, Los Angeles & Portland. He published his first photo book in 2013. His images can be seen in various fine art books such as Life On Instagram, Hip Hop; A Cultural Odyssey, All Gone Book 2015, among others, and was recognized in the PDN Photo Annual 2015.
